Prayer Part II
In this blog we will be looking at the first section of modeled prayer.
Many people wonder, when should I pray? Unfortunate, a lot of Christians only go to God when they are in need of something. Whether it be financial aid from God, family problems, work problems, or even something that is wanted but not needed.
Let us look at some examples that we see in the Bible about prayer.
Psalm 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
We can see that David and Daniel both prayed three times a day. This is specifically mentioned and is pointed out I believe for our admonition and for our learning.
The Bible also says this about prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
Also, Acts 12:5, Romans 1:9, I Thessalonians 1:3, 2:13, and II Thessalonians 1:3 shows how Paul prayed without ceasing.
One might say, without ceasing, how can that be done? It is actual simple.
I Understand that people work, have children, and many other things in their lives. If we prayed without ceasing, as far as praying on our knees, then nothing would ever get accomplished; but we should be in a continual state of prayer. In other words, prayer should always be at the forefront of our mind.
Remember, we should have a place that we have in secret to go to God in prayer, but we should also be in a continual mode of prayer throughout the day.
Pray when you get up, pray mid-day, and pray in the evening time; but please do not let it be only a short prayer at breakfast, lunch, and supper.
Do not let prayer be the Cinderella, the most neglected thing in your life; pray, pray, and again I say, pray.
