Importance of Prophecy

Why is prophecy so important, because it lets us know of future events that are coming and it helps us to understand what is happening and why it is happening.

It also should excite us to know that there is an ending to all of this.  Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

No matter how bad things get we know that one day Jesus is coming back. We should not be discouraged with this world getting more wicked because the Bible says that things will wax worse and worse until Jesus returns. Remember, according to the Bible the world is not falling apart but instead is falling into place.

We are in the church age right now and there is nothing left prophetically to be fulfilled for the rapture to happen.

Even though we know that the imminent return of Christ is near, that does not give us a reason to get lazy.  In Luke 19:13 Jesus tells us that we are to occupy till He comes. This means we keep pushing ahead at the plow, not looking back, but pushing forward; but how do we do this in such horrendous times?

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. We keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. You see, when they race a horse they put blinders on them so nothing can distract them from the goal that is in sight. We need to put our spiritual blinders on so that we do not get sidetracked by the things of this world and the extra weights that we pick up from it.

Listen to what the Hebrews 12:1 says. Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

The great cloud of witnesses that we are compassed about with is from Hebrews 11 where we saw that no matter what, they believed God, and they kept pushing ahead.

The second part of the verse tells us to lay aside the weight and sin that so easily besets us. We need to shed the extra baggage in our life that is weighing us down and that means anything that keeps us from serving God like we should. Not everything in this world is necessarily bad, but if it keeps you from serving God like you should then it is bad, and we need to shed it. Get rid of sin in your life or it will keep you away from God.

As the rapture draws near let us keep pushing ahead for God, proclaiming Jesus Christ, and fulfilling the great commission; for one day time will be over and there will not be any more chances to tell someone about Jesus.

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
