Trancendent and Imminent
In Genesis chapter one, we see God, Elohim, Creator and Sustainer of all. We see that He spoke, and it happened, we see that what He said was done at His command. God created everything out of nothing for God is Omnipotent and All-Powerful.
We see that on day three that God created the vegetation, we also see that the vegetation lived before the greater and lesser light (sun and the moon) was created. God is the sustainer of all things, He is the light that sustained all things before the greater light and lesser light were created, and He will be the sustainer of all things in the New Heaven, the New Earth, the New Jerusalem; thus, there will be no greater or lesser light, for He is the light.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Psalm 33:6-9 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
Colossians 1:16-17 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
- God is limitless. (He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful, and All-Present.)
- God is Lord. (Who He is and what He has done makes Him such.)
- God is love. (He puts the welfare of man ahead of His own.)
You see, God is transcendent. He is separate from creation as the Creator, but even with God being transcendent He is also imminent which means close and near.
We live in a world of uncertainty today, but even amongst all the uncertainty there is one thing that we can know for sure, God loves us and He cares about us. He cared enough to send His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us. Resurrection Sunday just passed and we celebrated it because He did not just die for our sins, but Jesus Christ arose from the grave and lives forever more. He bore all our sins on the cross and all that we have to do is put our trust in Him.
God also cares about our everyday needs. The Bible says that He has the very hairs on our head numbered, the Bible says that He has our tears in a bottle, and the Bible says He knows our needs before we even pray for them.
Remember, when we are struggling spiritually or physically, emotionally or financially, or whatever they need may be; that He, God, is waiting for us to come to Him.
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
